Terms & Conditions for private lessons in London.

Notice the cancellation policy below.

  1. Objectives

The content and structure of lessons is based on each individual's aims.
Some students wish to develop oral communication skills (speaking and listening), but others wish to prepare for the Japanese proficiency exams.

  2. Textbooks

Textbooks are chosen according to your aim.
The main textbook for beginners is the kana version of Japanese for Busy People1, 2 or 3 plus the accompanying workbook(s) or Minna no Nihongo I and II with several workbooks.
Ask me which books are best for you before you purchase them.
However, the lesson materials for those who would like to sit one of the proficiency exams are usually chosen from past exam papers.
For the textbook details, please read this.

  3. Homework

Homework is set after each lesson. If students do not do their homework progress will be slow.

  4. Report

Progress reports are written every ten weeks.

  5. Level

Self-assess your level using the structure provided.

  6. Venue

Lessons are held at a place convenient for you, for example one of the meeting rooms at your company or at your home.
Wherever it is, ideally the room should have a flipchart or a whiteboard and a power socket for my laptop computer.

  7. Day/time

Most students have a 90-minute or two-hour lesson once or twice a week.
Generally the earliest lessons can start at is 8am and the latest a lesson can start is around 8pm.
However, this depends slightly on where the lessons will be held.

  8. Fortnightly lessons

I am willing to accept students who want to have a lesson fortnightly rather than weekly.
However, I reserve the right to cancel these lessons should a new student come along, who requires weekly lessons.
I will, of course, refund the fees for any remaining lessons.
