A letter to my Japanese friends - 日本人の友達への手紙

博ちゃんへ　少しずつ暖かくなっていきますよね。
博ちゃんはお元気ですか。
良いニュースありますよ。
今年の夏に彼氏と一緒に日本へ行きます。
六月十三日から七月二日まで日本にいるつもりで、もし博ちゃんが私たちをちょっと手伝って頂ければ大変有難いと思います。
私は五年前日本に住んでいましたが、東京は全然知りません。
そして博ちゃんが良い旅館を知っていますか。
それか、二日間ぐらい博ちゃんと滞在してもいいですか。
日本にいると色っな事をやりたいですがね。
温泉に行きたいし、すしを食べたいし、京都と大阪に行きたいです。
楽しみ！
それでは、博ちゃんはロンドンから何かお土産を欲しいでか。
何でも良いですよ。
じゃ、六月にね。

This is an excellent essay, if not perfect, from Gillian - she passed the exam with full marks!


The letter correctly starts with a seasonal greeting just as every letter by Japanese people should be.
Equally importantly, the good selection of appropriate words/forms generates a feeling of friendliness - this is where the use of colloquial words and phrases, such as the sentence final particle 'ne' to seek agreement, is good.


She could improve further by learning, for example, how to join two sentences more effectively/appropriately to give a more natural flow.


A couple of inappropriate uses of words/phrases could be also eradicated by studying more with a teacher. Well done!
