toad

When Sainsburyfs began urging customers to gtry something new todayh, itfs unlikely that anyone at the supermarket chain had toad on a bed of herb salad in mind.
Jessanne DefAth, from Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, was unpacking her groceries when she found a natterjack toad, an endangered species in Britain, in her bag of salad.
The 7cm (2in) toad is thought to have travelled from Portugal, where the salad was packed.
Ms DefAth pierced holes in the bag and took it to her local councilfs environmental health department. Her next port of call was Sainsburyfs, which gave her a ’10 voucher.
gI wonft be spending it on salad,h she said. A Sainsburyfs spokesman said: gAn Environmental Health Officer has been informed and is investigating this thoroughly.h
