revision

Last month at Walton high school in Milton Keynes there was a mini rebellion.
Fed-up at a proposal to scrap traditional study leave before the impending GCSE and A-level exams, teenagers organised a petition to request the right to stay at home to revise.
Stephanie Lofgren, whose daughter is an A-level student at the school, was among the parents worried by the ban.
gMy daughter has developed her own method of revision.
She felt revising in class would be less effective for her,h Lofgren said last week.
But one of the schoolfs vice-princi-pals, Christine Bowman, said teachers were swayed by research suggesting that pupils who study under supervision do better in exams.
gResults from other schools suggest that this pays off,h she said.
gChildren find it hard to structure great chunks of revision time on their own.h
The school wanted some examinees to come in right up to the day their exams started.
